I encourage you to use it on any machinery, including Gundams Inspired by Fontfabric's VAL typefont, it features reversible A, M, V, W characters to make for better text kerning. Now that I’ve played with it, I would have paid $50 or $60 for it. Mechsuit is a versatile sci-fi typefont that also doubles as a stencil font. I basically took a chance that it wasn’t complete garbage since it’s the only font editor in the app store. It’s a great app, and I was hesitent to pay $15 for it because even the description in the app store is almost nonexistent. I’m sure the developer knows exactly what all the tools are and how to use them, but how about helping out users that are new to editing fonts. There are even a few videos, but they have no sound so you are just basically watching someone move the cursor around and don’t know when/if he’s clicking the mouse or pressing a key or anything. It doesn’t tell what all the tool icons are either. There is a manual/tutorial on the website, but it is severely lacking in details. Some tools tips when hovering over them would be great.Īlso, there is no help file, or manual. Some are obvious but most are just symbols that mean nothing to the average user. As with FontForge, you can start your font from scratch using the editor, or upload images as a starting point. ![]() There are more than 25 alternatives to FontForge for a variety of platforms, including Windows, Mac, Web-based, Linux and BSD apps. It did everything I needed to do, but I was fumbling all the way through using it - used command-z a lot. Birdfont is slightly more intuitive than FontForge, so it may be a better option for anyone looking to get started quickly. FontForge is described as Fontforge is a free Typeface (font) editor program for Windows, Mac OS X and GNU+Linux and is localized in several languages and is a popular Font Editor in the os & utilities category. There is a non App Store version of this app on the web that seems to be popular. A commercial version with support for color fonts, variable font and OTF fonts. This appears to be the only font editor in the Mac App Store. ![]()
